- Long term care for residents who require ongoing skilled support and compassionate daily assistance.
- Short term, sub-acute rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury.
- Collaborative care through an interdisciplinary team approach with nursing, therapy, and medical staff working together.
- A diverse patient population including individuals with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post‑acute needs.
The COTA Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements- NBCOT certified upon hire, with optional renewal thereafter.
- Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (ASOT).
- Currently registered/licensed in applicable State and must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- One (1) year experience in post‑acute care or related setting preferred.
- CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation; certification must remain current during employment.
Job Requirements
- Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Liaises with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs.
- Demonstrates good body mechanics at all times.
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Knowledgeable of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post‑acute care facility functions.
- Implements and interprets departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Performs competently in all competency areas: patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Maintains professional working relationships with associates and vendors.
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary or confidential information.
- Follows company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completing mandatory Code of Conduct and other compliance training.
- Follow occupational treatment plans under the supervising OT’s direction.
- Chart appropriately and timely.
- Utilize therapy software accurately.
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients.
- Assist in patient evacuation.
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
- Use reasoning skills and good judgment.
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
- Perform required physical movements such as sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
