We are looking for a vibrant, enthusiastic and creative Teacher of Drama to join Felixstowe School from January 2027, following the retirement of a much-esteemed colleague after 29 years of service to our community. This post would suit a creative and energetic teacher who wants to be part of a welcoming team within an exciting and creative area of our school, and the chance to make a visible contribution to school life.

Drama is a strong and successful subject within our Performing Arts Faculty, and we are looking for someone who loves their subject, enjoys working with young people and wants to contribute to much more than what happens inside their own classroom.

This is an exciting time for Performing Arts at Felixstowe School. Our music provision has grown enormously in recent years, with increasing numbers of students learning instruments, singing and performing. We are developing our dance provision, and we want Drama to continue to play a central role in a thriving Performing Arts culture across the school.

And then there’s the school show.

We want someone who will get excited about it.

Someone who will help students audition, rehearse, perform, create and discover talents they didn’t know they had. Someone who understands that a school production is about far more than the final performance: it creates friendships, confidence and belonging, and gives young people memories that can last a lifetime.

You do not need to arrive with every answer. You need to love Drama, care about young people and want to keep getting better. If you are early in your career, we will support you to grow. If you are more experienced, we will give you space to bring your ideas and help shape what Performing Arts becomes next.

Drama sits within our Performing Arts Faculty and is a strong performing subject. Students are enthusiastic about the subject and benefit from opportunities to perform both within the curriculum and beyond it.

We want our next Drama teacher to build on those strengths while helping us think ambitiously about what Performing Arts can become at Felixstowe.

• teach engaging and ambitious Drama lessons across the age and ability range;
• inspire students to develop confidence, creativity and a genuine love of performance;
• contribute enthusiastically to productions, performances and enrichment;
• play a significant role in our school show;
• work alongside colleagues in Music, Dance and the wider Performing Arts Faculty to develop Performing Arts across the school;
• create opportunities for students who already love performing — and for those who haven’t yet discovered that they do.
