ResponsibilitiesAs a Freight Forwarder specialising in Customs Clearance, your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing end-to-end import/export freight forwarding across sea, air, and road transport.
- Handling customs declarations and ensuring compliance with tariff codes, valuation, and origin requirements.
- Coordinating EU movements, including FTL/LTL, groupage, and intermodal shipments, while liaising with lines, hauliers, agents, and suppliers.
- Preparing and processing all shipping documentation, such as Bills of Lading, customs entries, and related paperwork.
- Tracking shipments, resolving delays, and providing clear updates to customers as the main point of contact.
- Maintaining accurate, audit‑ready job files and fostering strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Quoting and negotiating rates, supporting process improvements, and assisting the wider team as needed.
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience in freight forwarding (import/export; multimodal experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of customs clearance processes and shipping documentation.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to prioritise and manage multiple shipments in a fast‑paced environment.
- A customer‑focused, proactive, and solutions‑driven mindset.
- Confidence in using IT systems (experience with forwarding/customs systems is an advantage).
Your typical day will involve:
