We are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to join our growing team!
The primary purpose of the Senior Business Development Manager is to lead commercial growth by developing new business opportunities, strengthening client relationships and maximising revenue from existing accounts. The role is responsible for building and managing a strong pipeline of prospects, identifying market opportunities, presenting tailored logistics solutions and supporting the continued growth of the Far Logistics brand. Working closely with mid and senior level management, the role requires strategic planning, strong market knowledge and a clear focus on profitable, sustainable sales growth.
Key Responsibilities- Achieve profit growth through the effective commercial management of new and existing accounts.
- Demonstrate consistent monthly growth and achieve agreed sales and profit targets.
- Maximise revenue opportunities from existing accounts by proactively identifying and developing under-served areas.
- Generate new prospect leads through networking, cold calling, referrals, marketing activity and other business development channels.
- Meet customers face to face, via Teams or Zoom, and by telephone to build relationships and present appropriate logistics solutions.
- Maintain accurate CRM records of sales calls, visits, opportunities, actions and client activity.
- Prepare and submit monthly sales and pipeline reports in a timely manner.
- Support the development and implementation of new services that meet client needs and strengthen the company’s commercial offering.
- Provide and record timely, accurate and competitive pricing while maintaining appropriate profit margins.
- Maintain regular contact with clients to ensure high levels of satisfaction, retention and long-term relationship growth.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, commercial drive and a positive ‘can-do’ approach.
- Builds trust and respect with clients, colleagues and senior stakeholders across the organisation.
- Communicates clearly and effectively through active listening, questioning and concise presentation of ideas.
- Influences people positively and motivates colleagues to support shared commercial objectives.
- Identifies problems early, responds in a timely manner and works with the wider team to find solutions.
- Contributes proactively and professionally to formal and informal discussions.
- Takes responsibility in challenging situations and handles conflict constructively and assertively.
- Works to achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales and profit targets.
- Prepares commercial proposals for new and existing customers while maintaining healthy profitability.
- Works with the wider team to support continued growth and development of the brand and business.
- Identifies and explores opportunities to expand the services offered across the client base.
- Maintains strong knowledge of the logistics market, competitor activity and the company’s solutions and services.
