Traffic Operator

Time Appointments are recruiting on behalf of a leading transport business based in Felixstowe who are thrilled to be looking for a Traffic Operator to join their friendly team. Our client is looking for an experienced Traffic Operator to have the responsibility of the routing and planning of own vehicles.

Key

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Routing and planning of own vehicles and dedicated subcontracted haulage suppliers with consideration for delivery time, driving hour’s legislation and vehicle operating restrictions.

* Booking VBS slots in accordance with work requirements

* Inputting data on the in-house system to create job files

* Revenue rating customer jobs and cost rating haulage supplier’s work

* Printing delivery notes

* Spot sub-contracting work to other haulage suppliers

* Dealing with clients and contractors by phone, and email

* Liaison with customers to ascertain their requirements, booking of suitable transport, payment of charges and final delivery arrangements

* General office admin as deemed necessary by Line Manager

* On call for out of hours and weekends for own vehicles and suppliers.

Skills & Experience Required:

* Minimum of three years’ experience in the routing of containers

* Transport experience is a necessity

* The ability to be meticulous and consistent with close attention to detail

* Computer literate with previous knowledge of Destin8 and the port VBS system

* The ability to work under pressure is essential

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Flexible and adaptable with an excellent attitude to Customer Service
