Ocean Freight Coordinator

An established and growing freight forwarding company based in the Heathrow area is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Coordinator to join its operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a freight professional with strong Ocean Import and Export experience to work within a fast-paced international logistics environment.

The Role

As an Ocean Freight Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing Sea Freight shipments from booking through to final delivery, ensuring a high level of customer service and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing worldwide Ocean Import and Export shipments from start to finish
Arranging FCL and LCL shipments across global trade lanes
Liaising with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers, and customers
Raising and processing job files and shipment documentation
Coordinating customs clearance requirements and ensuring compliance
Monitoring shipments and providing proactive updates to customers
Handling freight quotations and rate requests
Negotiating rates and services with carriers and suppliers
Resolving operational issues and ensuring service excellence
Processing invoices and ensuring accurate job costing
Maintaining compliance with company procedures and industry regulations

Requirements

Previous experience in Ocean Freight Operations is essential
Strong knowledge of Ocean Imports and Exports
Experience managing shipments from start to finish
Knowledge of FCL and LCL movements
Customs clearance experience would be highly advantageous
Experience using freight forwarding software such as Cargo Wise, Sequoia, Multifreight, Destin8, or similar
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
