Position SummaryThe Meat Department Cleaner plays a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and cleanliness of the department while providing exemplary customer service. Responsibilities include fulfilling customer orders, ensuring a tidy and well‑organized workspace, adhering to food safety protocols, and monitoring inventory levels. With a positive demeanor and meticulous attention to detail, this position contributes to fostering a welcoming atmosphere for patrons while upholding sanitation standards to guarantee a safe shopping environment.
This is not a supervisory position.
- Fulfill customer orders and requests made at the Meat & Seafood counter.
- Provide friendly customer service to all guests with care, respect, and a positive attitude.
- Practice safe food handling procedures.
- Ensure that the product case is full, neat, and attractively merchandised.
- Safely clean other display equipment throughout the day.
- Sweep, clean glass, remove trash, wash dishes, and maintain sanitation for all prep surfaces & tools.
- Monitor product levels in coolers and communicate product levels to supervisors.
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, equipment and department facilities.
- Remove trash and maintain sanitation of trash receptacles.
- Maintain sanitary working conditions for staff members.
Clean floors and other surfaces. - Maintain order and organization of coolers, freezers, and other department stock areas.
- Receive and properly store goods according to food safety guidelines.
- Practice proper sanitary food handling.
- Provide customer service, including handling customer requests while working on the line.
- Maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance for scheduled shifts.
- Good communication skills.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Polite and attentive customer service skills.
- Experience working as a contributing and effective team member.
- Excellent work ethic that emphasizes efficiency and precision.

- Working conditions include a fast‑paced retail environment that involves long intervals of standing, walking, crouching, and reaching while moving equipment or product. Exposure to all weather conditions, including rain, wind, heat, and sun, consistent with standard Michigan summer weather. Exposure to cold while working in coolers and freezers.
