Electrical Engineer III (Hybrid)
Location:
Ferndale, WA (Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Position SummaryAs a member of the electrical team, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid setting. You will evaluate, select, and apply electrical engineering knowledge to analyze data and develop solutions for complex technical issues. Responsibilities include preparing scopes of work, budgets, and providing input to project schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, safety and environmental issues, addressing issues to ensure zero harm and zero environmental incidents.
- Consistently achieve goals, delivering quality and accurate work and meeting project schedules.
- Assemble electrical engineering, drawing and construction work packages for review and approval (one‑line diagrams, wiring schematics, and other required deliverables).
- Perform load calculations, voltage drop, conduit/cable sizing, lighting and grounding design.
- Respond to construction requests for information (RFIs).
- Prepare scope development and create technical specifications for electrical equipment and modifications.
- Prepare material requisitions for bid and conduct technical bid evaluation.
- Provide man‑hour estimates to support proposals and material quantity takeoffs for cost estimates.
- Attend and participate in client and Eichleay project team meetings.
- Maintain schedule and budget commitments.
- Ensure compliance with site, global and industry electrical standards and safety (NEC, IEEE, API, NFPA 70E and 497).
- Apply troubleshooting, failure analysis and technical solutions as appropriate.
- Support project construction, commissioning and start‑up and client site turnaround activities as required.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Electrical Engineering for refinery or other oil and gas related industries.
- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.
- Experience coordinating with other disciplines, project management and vendors.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
- Ability to manage budgets and schedules.
- Experience with hazardous area classification document preparation and analysis.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, API, and IEEE standards for hazardous locations.
- Proficiency in developing one‑line diagrams, wiring schematics, and performing load calculations, voltage drop, conduit/cable sizing, lighting and grounding design.
- Experience with low and medium voltage systems, including power distribution, arc flash analysis, short‑circuit studies, and protective device selection and coordination using tools such as ETAP, SKM or Easy Power.
- Experience developing electrical specifications and calculations.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Experience working onsite at a refinery or similar industrial facility.
- Power System analysis software (ETAP/SKM/Easy Power).
- RSO Safety Training and current card or ability to obtain.
- Client Safety Training and current badge or ability to obtain.
- TWIC Certification and current card or ability to obtain.
- Background screening (employment, education, criminal history, driving record).
- Participation in random drug and alcohol programs.
- Occasional standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, stooping or kneeling; talk and hear (use site communication equipment); use hands to feel tools, temperature or controls.
- Must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
- Overtime may be required as workload dictates (weekdays and weekends).
- Job duties may be performed at a client site, production facility or construction job site under Eichleay team lead direction.
