The police officer is responsible for day-to-day general law enforcement services. Duties include patrol, traffic enforcement, crime scene investigation, reporting, field training, and other functions. Officers may serve as officer-in-charge without direct supervision during limited night and overnight shifts.

Four ten-hour shifts per week (Mon-Thurs or Thurs-Sun) with night shift premium pay and Thursday crossover training days

Responsibilities include:

Perform foot and vehicle patrols of various districts to provide security, surveillance, and assistance.

Respond to calls, conduct interviews, perform crime scene investigations, arrests, and related tasks.

Assist in department communications, training, evidence handling, and equipment services.

Enforce traffic and parking ordinances, including radar enforcement, investigations, and citations.

Prepare reports, testify in court, and transport prisoners.

Carry out special duties, participate in staff meetings, training, and policy review.

Operate law enforcement equipment such as firearms, less-lethal munitions, radios, radar units, and fingerprint kits.

Support teamwork and departmental missions.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED
Ability to obtain Washington State Peace Officer certification within six months of hire
Lateral Entry:
Minimum 12 months experience as a commissioned police officer, background check required

Work is performed indoors in police department environments and outdoors on bicycles, foot, or patrol vehicles, involving high-risk law enforcement activities.
