About the Ferndale Food Bank
The Ferndale Food Bank is a private non‑profit organization committed to the mission of distributing food and support to all community members in need, with dignity, respect, and understanding.
Position Overview
The Ferndale Food Bank seeks a dynamic, compassionate, and strategic leader to serve as Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for leading the organization in fighting food insecurity by ensuring effective operations, financial health, and community engagement, translating the Board's vision into action through fundraising, strategic partnerships, staff leadership, and efficient food distribution to feed the hungry. The ED will act as the main spokesperson of the food bank, securing resources while managing day‑to‑day activities to achieve the mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Vision:
Work with the Board to set long‑term goals and implement plans to combat hunger. - Fundraising & Development:
Drive all fundraising efforts, including grants, major donors, events, and cultivating community support to ensure financial stability. - Operations Management:
Oversee food acquisition, storage, distribution, facilities, and adherence to safety/legal standards. - Community & Partnerships:
Build strong relationships with government, other nonprofits, businesses, and the public, serving as the face of the organization. - Leadership & Staff:
Recruit, manage, and motivate staff and volunteers, fostering a positive culture. - Financial Stewardship:
Develop budgets, manage finances responsibly, and ensure fiscal health and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years nonprofit leadership experience in executive‑level roles
- Proven fundraising track record (grants, major donors, corporate partnerships)
- Strong financial management skills with budgets of $500,000+
- Exceptional communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in related field OR equivalent experience
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Food banking or hunger relief experience
- Multi‑lingual abilities (Spanish, Ukrainian, or Russian)
Compensation and Benefits
Full‑time, in‑person with one work‑from‑home day per week available. Salary range of $67,000- $72,000, plus $500 monthly healthcare stipend after 90 days totalling $6,000 annually DOE. Benefits include 25 days of flexible PTO.
