Experienced Mechanical Technicians

Abacus Vehicle Hire is a successfully growing family business focused on providing the very best in vehicle rental and vehicle maintenance to both corporate and private customers. We run all types of vehicles such as Cars, Minibuses, Vans, Lorries and Motorhomes from 2 depots located in Ferndown and Andover and pride ourselves on the services we provide.

We are currently recruiting for Experienced Mechanical Technicians to join our existing teams at both FERNDOWN and ANDOVER depots.

What do we need from you?

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate the following:

Ability to work within a team and on your own

Ability to work under pressure in a sometimes fast paced environment

Ability to learn and retain new skills and information

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Aged over 23 with a full UK driving licence ( HGV would be useful )

A willingness to work a 5-day shift (07.30 – 17:30) 45hrs plus up to 1 in 3 Saturday mornings O/T

What do we want from you?

Your main duties will be to carry out service, inspection and repair work to Company and Customer vehicles ranging through Cars, Minibuses, Vans, Lorries and Motorhomes.

• Have your own tools.
• Have at least 6 years’ experience in all vehicle types.
• Carry out service, inspection and repair work to VOSA standards where required.
• Identify and advise your supervisor of any additional work required.
• Ensure the work undertaken is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with instructions.
• Endeavour to reduce vehicle down time to a minimum.
• Complete all relevant paperwork, in a detailed and appropriate manner.
• Ensure workshop resources are used in a safe manner and kept clean and tidy.
• Maintain high standards of work
• Be familiar with safety standards and the operation of all vehicle types
• Drive and operate the vehicles in a safe and conscientious manner
• Be a team player with an outstanding attention for detail

What can you expect from us?

Excellent rates of pay – £40,000 EITRO

22 days’ holiday, increasing to 25 days after 3 full years of service
