Counsellor K-12 Schools

Position: Counsellor for K-12 Schools
Elevate the lives of students at Kootenay Discovery School, Fernie Secondary, and Jaffray Elementary as a K-12 Counsellor. This part-time temporary role supports trauma-informed practices and student development.

This position is a 0.886 FTE temporary contract starting September 8, 2026, until December 18, 2026, or return of the incumbent. Candidates must hold a Master's Degree from the BC Teacher Regulation Branch in Counseling, Psychology in Counseling, or similar fields. Experience in trauma-informed practice is required, along with prior K-12 teaching experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide counseling support across K-12 grade levels

• Implement trauma-informed practices with students

• Collaborate with teachers and staff for student development

• Maintain an effective counseling environment

• Work on-site at multiple school locations

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Counseling or Psychology

• K-12 teaching experience or formal training

• BC Teacher Certification is preferred

• Experience in trauma-informed practices

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Support the emotional and educational growth of students in Fernie as a K-12 Counsellor.
