Part-Time K-12 Counsellor

Join Kootenay Discovery School and Fernie Secondary as a part-time K-12 Counsellor. This role emphasizes trauma-informed practices while providing vital support to students.

Offering a 0.886 FTE temporary contract commencing September 8, 2026, through December 18, 2026, or until the return of the incumbent. Applicants must possess a Master’s Degree recognized by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch, achieved in Counseling or Psychology. Formal training or teaching experience at the K-12 level is essential, along with a foundation in trauma-informed care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver counseling services to K-12 students

• Apply trauma-informed practices effectively

• Assist in student emotional and academic growth

• Foster partnerships with school staff

• Work directly at Kootenay Discovery, Fernie Secondary, and Jaffray Schools

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Counseling or Psychology

• Prior teaching or formal training in K-12 subjects

• BC Teacher Certification preferred

• Training in trauma-informed practices

• Excellent interpersonal skills
