Position: Fernley High Health Teacher 2025/26

Overview

Position:
Secondary Health Teacher (Fernley High) for 2025/26 school year at Lyon County School District. Salary range: $48,955-$87,866 annually, employer-paid retirement, dependent upon previous experience. Terms of Employment: 9 months or 185/189 days. FLSA Status:
Exempt. This is a salaried position assigned to the Licensed Employee Salary Schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Administer district curriculum aligned with Nevada State Standards and LCSD-approved curriculum.
  • Provide a respectful learning environment and support school and district programs and goals.
  • Create and maintain a positive, orderly, academically focused classroom.
  • Develop and implement effective lessons using the LCSD lesson plan template.
  • Analyze student progress and provide individualized instruction and feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with IEPs and other related mandates.
  • Maintain classroom management and discipline to ensure safety.
  • Contribute to the School Performance Plan (SPP) process.
  • Comply with assessment regulations and guidelines.
  • Facilitate an effective advisory program as outlined by administration/district.
  • Interact professionally with administration, staff, parents, and community; manage stress appropriately.
  • Integrate technology into instructional programs, curriculum, and lessons.
  • Maintain accurate records in student information systems (e.g., Infinite Campus).
  • Participate in other duties as assigned; maintain punctuality and attendance as essential functions.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to teach in a secondary classroom.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, peers, administration, and community members.
  • Guide learning toward achievement of curriculum and student goals.
  • Establish and communicate clear expectations for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Use varied instructional techniques to meet diverse student needs.
  • Participate as a collaborative member of the faculty and staff.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and in-service.
  • Communicate professionally in written, oral, and non-verbal forms.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the site administrator/supervisor.
Position Requirements
  • Education and Training:
    Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Licenses and

    Certifications:

    Must possess or be able to acquire a Nevada teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education and be certified in the relevant subject area.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Work is performed in climate-controlled classroom settings with exposure to outside weather. May involve noise levels from moderate to very loud and working in crowded environments. Hazards may include classroom furniture, equipment, chemicals related to specific assignments, and power/hand operated equipment.
