We are also known as the Progressive Care Unit or PCU. Our unit is an intermediate unit that is a step down from our intensive care but a step above med/surg as far as patient acuity.

Cardiac, Respiratory distress, Septic.

No vents. Mainly serve cardiac patients, also acute respiratory (no vents but high flow) 02 needs/new bipap, etc. then mix of any other disease process in which the physicians determine the patient is too sick for floor; but not yet ICU level of care.

Fast paced unit combining aspects of ED and ICU into one department—busyness of ED & critical care aspect of ICU.

Requires and builds strong assessment skills and teamwork.

Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
