About IKONIKA
IKONIKA is a fully vertically integrated control system integrator and electrical contractor, based in Fife, Washington. We design, build, program and modernize control and electrical systems for food and beverage processors, manufacturers and vessel operators. Engineering, panel building, programming, installation, commissioning and long-term support are all in house.
The role
Much of our work is modernization: moving plants and vessels off aging control systems onto current ones while production keeps running. You will plan the migration, write the code, commission it and hand over a system the customer's team can run. This is what we mean by RESTORE CONTROL.
You will run your own jobs, from the first call to the final report.
• You will be based at our Fife office and on customer sites. The role is not remote.
• You will travel a little each quarter. Most of our engineers spend about 80% of their time in the office.
• Some evenings and weekends come with the work. In return we keep office hours flexible, so you can fit work around school drop-off and life outside work.
• Full time. Salaried. $100,000 to $120,000 a year.
What you will do
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, drive and network systems on plant floors and vessels.
• Write, change and test PLC and HMI code, mostly Allen-Bradley, but not exclusively.
• Migrate obsolete systems to current platforms.
• Commission new equipment, panels from our shop, VFDs and industrial networks.
• Speak with the customer, keep the job plan current and lead the crew on site.
• Estimate labor and scope new work.
• Write a field service report for every site visit.
• Teach newer techs on real jobs.
What you will show us
Most people in this role have about 2 to 5 years of hands-on controls work. Please bring real examples to the interview, such as:
• A fault you found and fixed on a running system, and what you ruled out.
• PLC and HMI code you wrote or changed.
• A system you commissioned or migrated, and how you kept production safe.
• A platform you had never seen, and how you got online with it.
The work can take you into tight spaces and up ladders, so you will need to work at height and lift 50 lb. You will also need a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets our insurance requirements.
How we hire
You do not need a degree. We look at the work you have done and talk it through with you.
How you move up
We hire Controls Engineers and develop our own Senior Controls Engineers. Our engineers reach Senior by working through a defined path of achiievements, each one signed off on a real job. If you want to grow into a great engineer, IKONIKA gives you real jobs, senior engineers to learn from and a clear path to follow.
Pay and benefits
• Healthcare for you, paid in full by IKONIKA. Vision cover is optional.
• A 401(k) match that rises with years of service.
• A payment on every work anniversary.
• A share of the margin on new work you bring in.
• Paid holidays and life insurance.
