Under direction, the Circulation Services Assistant provides circulation services to patrons and supports the Circulation Services Department with projects as assigned.

Circulation Service- Checks items in and out, ensuring accurate transactions
- Assists patrons in matters relating to their library accounts, including registering patrons for library cards
- Accepts applications for Golden Buckeye and Voter Registration
- Provides curbside service to patrons
- Assesses, accepts and processes fine and fee payments
- Prepares, receives and processes library materials to and from other locations
- Provides excellent customer service to all library patrons
- Maintains confidentiality of patron information
- Responds to questions from patrons in person, over the phone and/or virtually
- Directs patrons to library areas, staff, or outside agencies as appropriate
- Retrieves library materials for patrons
- Selects materials for delivery to individual patrons and/or community partners
- Maintains a collaborative working environment
- Provides support to department projects, as needed
- Attends meetings and serves on staff committees, as requested
- Supports library-wide initiatives, such as Summer READ
- Records statistics for library transactions, as required
- Maintains and increases library knowledge and skills through professional development
- Represents the library at community events, as assigned
- Performs additional duties and assignments, as required
Physical: Frequent walking, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and pushing carts. Moving/lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing up to 100 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Environmental: Typical office setting with no extreme temperatures or fumes. Minimal, if any, exposure to hazardous materials. Exposure to dust.
Requirements- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of customer service experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
Effective verbal and interpersonal skills to respond to coworkers, supervisor, and patrons. Organization, prioritizing and coordinating multiple tasks. Basic communication skills. Basic computer skills. Incumbent may be required to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. - Schedule: The schedule will rotate between the Library's Circulation department and the Bookmobile.
