Senior Supply Trading Specialist – Renewable Feed stocks

The Renewables Feedstock Trading team, part of Renewable Diesel Fuels Value Chain, sources and trades feed stocks across our value chain. We are looking for a motivated Supply Trading Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for a commercially driven individual who excels in a highly collaborative environment, is organized, and is passionate about renewable markets. You will play a key role in sourcing, trading, and optimizing renewable feed stocks while working closely with both internal teams and external partners to maximize commercial opportunities.

• Collaborate across the value chain including ST&O, VCO, Refining, MPLX to continuously review market conditions and the short- and medium-term supply and sales plans; recommend and implement changes to optimize overall value to MPC.
• Evaluate and execute business development opportunities beyond the core business (storage, blending, freight deals) in collaboration with ST&O, VCO and other value chain partners.
• Build and maintain internal and external relationships with counter parties and business partners.
• Prepare periodic reports on market activities and supply/demand or competitive developments to support ST&O, VCO and other value chain partners.
• Collaborate with the value chain and various members of the extended business team (Credit, Legal, Accounting, etc.) to stay abreast of trading, logistical and financial activity, meet regulatory requirements, prepare contracts, address information queries, and develop acquisition/sales strategies to achieve optimum value.
• Participate in the negotiation or development of commercial resolutions impacting supply trading desk (e.g., disputes, claims, etc.).
• Support communications and position management with the Martinez Renewables JV.
• Develop expertise around feedstock logistics and lead justification for proposed logistics solutions working with scheduling for execution.

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Supply Trading Specialist – Grade 12:
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in Trading or Marketing including profit/loss responsibility for Product Trading, Contract Negotiation and Scheduling (rail, truck, vessel and pipe).
• Senior Supply Trading Specialist – Grade 13:
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Trading or Marketing including profit/loss responsibility for Product Trading, Contract Negotiation and Scheduling (rail, truck, vessel and pipe).
