Laborer, Construction, Construction Labor ​/ Trades

Position Summary: Perform various tasks involving physical labor at construction projects.

Reports to: Project Superintendent

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate a variety of hand and power tools
• Take instruction from the project superintendent or foreman
• Work accordingly with fellow workers to carry out various construction tasks
• Ensure that proper safety procedure is followed
• Clean, secure and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
• Perform demolition and removal of various surface materials, fixtures and other debris
• Distribute, load and unload construction material
• Build and position concrete forms and scaffolding
• Mix, pour, and level concrete, aggregate and earth using trowels and shovels
• Perform physical labor for excavation and shoveling
• Various Rough Carpentry items such as framing and blocking
• Assist in the installation of underground pipe and structures

Qualifications:

• Safety Certification:
  
  OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety Certification is a must.
• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or technical training are a plus.
• Union Membership:
  Must be an active union member or willing to join the Laborers Union.

Promotional Activities:

• Represent the company in a professional manner at selected public functions.
• Promote Kirk Corporation within the construction industry to other contractors, subcontractors and vendors.

Internal Communication:

• Work with the Safety Department on safety standards .
• Interact with all departments within Kirk Corporation to make certain there is a consistent flow of information and good working relationships.
