Lead Process Engineer – Machining
Findlay, OH – A leading tier I automotive supplier is adding a hands‑on Lead Process Engineer to drive success in the CNC machining area. This role blends mentorship, continuous improvement, and cross‑functional collaboration on a modern machining platform.
Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and mentor two engineering teammates
- Own the machining process, including CNC programming, troubleshooting, and process optimization
- Manage capital equipment projects, ensuring timely delivery and budget compliance
- Build and maintain vendor and supplier relationships for process and tooling excellence
- Initiate and execute continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiencies and reduce scrap
- Perform root cause analysis and downtime troubleshooting to sustain throughput
- Utilize 2D and 3D modeling to improve line layouts, fixture design, and tooling
- Support new model activities, documentation, and project management activities
- Address mechanical and basic electrical issues that impact production
- Generate required reports, monitor metrics, and track KPIs with production staff
- Collaborate with operations and production associates to enhance throughput and meet production goals
- Other duties as directed by engineering management
- Associate’s degree with at least eight years of lead process engineering experience OR Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of lead process engineering experience
- Experience working in CNC machining environments with advanced knowledge of machining processes
- Experience programming CNC machining centers
- Experience implementing process improvements (increasing efficiencies, reducing scrap, etc.)
- Capital equipment project management, including managing timelines and budgets
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills
- AutoCAD and/or 3D modeling experience
- Supervision of others or experience in leadership roles
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Automotive supplier work experience
- Experience with horizontal machining centers
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Robotics and/or PLC experience
- Mechanical hobbies and/or farming experience
