Position SummaryThis role reports to the Value Chain Optimization Director – North, advising multidisciplinary teams across the value chain. The engineer will consult on comprehensive value‑chain considerations for the South Economics and Planning groups and the Commercial Organization. Responsibilities include managing commercial elements of refinery operations, developing optimization models, leading cross‑functional meetings, and providing buy‑or‑make analyses.
Key Responsibilities- Helps manage commercial aspects of regional refinery operations, including feedstock selection, product and intermediate placement, supply chain optimization, and market analysis.
- Demonstrates advanced understanding of refinery operations, economics, and market dynamics for multiple refineries, mentors junior engineers.
- Leads collaboration meetings within the value chain to discuss local and regional economic drivers.
- Develops, maintains and executes regional plans for multiple refineries using linear‑programming simulation models.
- Suggests modifications to production plans to adjust to demand/margin changes, updates modelling constraints, and manages local refinery forecasting independently.
- Leads end‑to‑end evaluation of buy‑or‑make cases from data gathering to recommendation, employing economic models and sensitivity analyses.
- Manages local refinery deliverables independently, ensuring compliance with monthly operating plans and changing economics.
- Develops depth of understanding of all North refineries, their operating/logistical constraints, and economic drivers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required).
- Four (4) years of relevant experience; experience in Technical Services or Economics & Planning preferred.
