Part-time Volunteer Board Treasurer- approx 2-5 hours per week (some weeks to be more or less)

About Carbon Valley Help CenterFounded in 2013, Carbon Valley Help Center was born out of a collaborative grassroots effort to address growing needs in the towns of Dacono, Firestone, and Frederick. What began as a volunteer-driven response to the economic downturn has evolved into a central hub of hope and resources for residents facing financial, physical, and emotional challenges. We exist to fill the gap when people don’t know where to turn—offering guidance, support, and a hand to hold.
We serve a diverse range of individuals across all walks of life, including seniors, veterans, low-income families, and anyone facing temporary or long-term crisis. Through personalized case management, community referrals, and emergency assistance, we empower our clients to stabilize their lives and regain a sense of dignity and control.
Position Summary – Board Member:Treasurer
Carbon Valley Help Center is seeking engaged and mission-driven individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a Board Member, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring strong governance, and supporting the continued growth and impact of our services. This is a volunteer position ideal for community members who are passionate about service, equity, and strengthening the social fabric of Carbon Valley while growing their careers.
Board Members act as ambassadors of the organization, bringing their unique expertise, voice, and community insight to support the Help Center’s programs, fundraising efforts, and operational sustainability.
- Serve a minimum 1 year term as an active voting member of the Board of Directors.
- Attend regular monthly board meetings held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
- Participate in at least one committee (e.g., Finance, Fundraising, Governance, Outreach).
- Provide oversight of financials, policies, and strategic plans.
- Assist with fundraising, donor engagement, and community outreach.
- Promote the mission of Carbon Valley Help Center within personal and professional networks.
- Contribute time, thought leadership, and resources in alignment with personal capacity.
- Support the Executive Director and leadership team as needed.
- A strong commitment to the mission and values of Carbon Valley Help Center.
- Resides in or has meaningful ties to the Carbon Valley region (Dacono, Frederick, Firestone, etc.).
- Willingness to actively participate in meetings, events, and organizational development.
- Background in Finance/Accounting is required and in one or more of the following areas is preferred but not required:
- Nonprofit governance
- Fundraising and development
- Legal/compliance
- Social services or public health
- Community organizing or advocacy
- Marketing, communications, or HR
- Prior board or committee experience is a plus, but not necessary.
