Summer 2026, $13.25+/hour

Conner Prairie is looking for enthusiastic Adventure Camp Counselors to join their team from May 18 to August 2, 2026.

Staff Expectations

Adventure Camp staff are mentors, role models, and inclusive leaders, helping create a supportive community for campers aged 5–13. They model kindness, creativity, and steady leadership through a variety of activities.

Principal Function

The Counselor works as part of a team to provide a safe, engaging, and educational experience for campers ages 5–13.

Schedule & Hours
  • Standard hours Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Pre‑season staff training:
    May 18–22, 2026.
  • Camp dates:
    May 26–August 4, 2026.
  • Camp Clean‑up day:
    Sunday, August 2, 2026.
  • Position requires attendance during staff training week and availability for at least eight of the ten weeks of camp.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead daily camp activities and create a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Support campers’ varied needs with the Inclusion Specialist and ADA guidelines.
  • Facilitate activities such as nature exploration, process art, group reflection, creative play, and Learning Garden experiences.
  • Actively supervise campers, respond to medical or emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and consistent check‑in/check‑out procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with parents/guardians and collaborate with fellow staff.
  • Model kindness, curiosity, and inclusive leadership.
  • Maintain camp equipment and report needs to the Camp Manager.
  • Participate in pre‑season training and assist with end‑of‑season clean‑up.
Education & Experience
  • At least 18 years old and high school diploma; one semester of college preferred.
  • Experience working with children required; prior camp, school, or youth program experience strongly preferred.
  • Adaptable, open to new experiences, and maintain high professional standards aligned with Conner Prairie’s mission.
  • Fun, friendly, and patient personality.
Other Skills & Abilities
  • Build relationships and mentor children effectively.
  • Swim safely in pond water wearing a life vest.
  • Paddle a canoe on river and pond safely and confidently.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

Requirements include standing, walking, climbing, stooping, lifting up to 25 lbs, and other typical outdoor duties. Details are available in the full job posting.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to wet conditions, noise, and outdoor weather. May require work beyond office hours.
