IU Health Fishers Hospital Sleep Lab
This position performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies under the supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist. Prepares patient equipment for testing, interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain pre and post testing procedures. They perform and document testing per lab protocols. They monitor patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues. They assist with scoring sleep studies and generating reports.
Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing. They determine and report needed repairs/replacements.
- High School Diploma/GED is required. Associate's Degree is preferred.
- Requires successful completion of an accredited educational polysomnography program leading to either a certification or an associate degree in Polysomnography or successful completion of a medical program leading to a minimum of an AS degree associated with a state license or certification (Medical Assistant, Nursing, Respiratory Care, etc.) or a minimum of 6 months of experience as a Polysomnographic Technician Trainee with documented proficiency in all required competencies.
- Pass the board exam and become a credentialed (RPSGT) within 2 years of hire which requires completion of an accredited STAR or ASTEP Polysomnographic Program.
- Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
