Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an ICU RN with at least 18 months of recent ICU or PCU experience and strong clinical skills for a night shift assignment requiring flexibility to float to PCU.
Responsibilities- Position is based in the ICU unit of a short-term acute care hospital
- Night shift schedule, working three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Assignment length is 13 weeks
- Frequent floating to PCU and potentially to affiliate hospitals
- Patient population includes ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTI, and acute shock
- Higher nurse-to-patient ratios may be assigned depending on acuity
- Cerner EMR is used; prior Cerner charting experience required
- Duties include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of cardiac procedures, post cardiac surgery care, access and care of multiple central lines and ports, ventilated patient care, and wound care with drains or vacs
- Candidates will support infection prevention practices and proper use of PPE
- Red tops and black bottoms are required for the scrub dress code
- Parking is free for staff
- Must work at least two out of three major holidays during the contract
- Up to five days of RTO may be auto-approved
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Active IN or compact RN license required, or eligibility to obtain temporary IN license prior to start
- A minimum of 18 months of recent experience in ICU or strong PCU required
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA or RQI accepted, must be current)
- Experience with advanced cardiac procedures, dysrhythmia interpretation, 12 lead EKG/ECG, cardiac drip titration, central and arterial line care, and ventilator management required
- Degree must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing school
- Must not be a local candidate; local candidates not accepted for ICU positions
- Returning employees (perm or PRN) must have a 12 month gap before being eligible for traveler consideration
