Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with at least two years of ICU or strong PCU experience, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications, and the ability to float to PCU as required.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital-based ICU unit with required floating to the PCU
- Patient population includes ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTI, and acute shock cases
- Higher patient ratios may apply, especially for those with strong PCU backgrounds
- Short-term acute care facility using Cerner charting system
- Day shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:30
- Scrub attire consists of red tops and black bottoms
- All travelers may float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
- Duties include advanced cardiac and respiratory management, emergency medication administration, and teamwork within both ICU and PCU environments
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions are required as part of patient care responsibilities
- Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
- Up to 5 days of requested time off may be auto-approved
- Free parking is provided on campus
- Perm or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment
- Active IN or compact RN license required prior to start; pending license may be accepted if obtained before start
- Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience or strong PCU experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Experience with Cerner EMR system is required
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Must be able to perform 12-lead EKG, manage cardiac and vasoactive drips, arterial lines, ventilators, and provide care for post-cardiac interventions
- Candidates must be able to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, initiate hypothermia/hyperthermia protocols, and provide care for surgical wounds and drains
- Local candidates not accepted for ICU roles
