Medical Intake Coordinator

What You’ll Do

As a Medical Intake Coordinator, you’ll be at the frontline of our lifesaving work. You’ll manage the medical intake of animals entering our care, ensure timely and compassionate assessments, and play a vital role in moving animals through the adoption process quickly and safely.

You'll also:

  • Conduct exams, administer vaccines and treatments, and support emergency medical care
  • Monitor the health of animals in shelter and foster care
  • Communicate with staff and volunteers regarding medical needs and plans
  • Support surgery prep and recovery; assist with on-call emergency rotation
  • Accurately document treatments and maintain medical records in Pet Point
  • Perform humane euthanasia when required and approved
  • Collaborate with veterinary staff, foster teams, and behavioral specialists

What You Bring

Experience & Knowledge

  • Prior experience in veterinary medicine or animal shelter settings
  • Proficiency in animal handling and understanding of contagious shelter illnesses
  • Familiarity with PetPoint, Excel, and other data management systems

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and restrain animals during exams or treatments
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move quickly throughout a 9–10 hour shift
