Job Description:

The Engineering Technology department is recruiting four S-STEMpeer mentors selected from students within the departments of Biology and Chemistry, Computers Science, Engineering Technology and Mathematics to work with our S-STEM Scholars. We are contracting with these students to participate in up to 4 S-STEM Seminars (held on every other Tuesday afternoon 3:30-4:45 duringthe fall and spring semester), with 2 to be completed in the fall semester and 2 in the spring semester.

Students will also be compensated for preparation time prior to these seminars asneeded.

Requirements:

Peer mentors will be selected based on their Sophomore, Junior or Senior status in one of the designated departments, the appropriateness of their program of study within that department given the interests of the S-STEM Scholars, and their participation in Internships and Research Activities. For the first seminar peer mentors will be asked to prepare brief remarks about current orpast Internship and/or Research activities in which they have been involved.

In future seminars during the fall and spring semesters, they maybe expected to share individually or in small groups with theS-STEM scholars about the curricular and co-curricular activities they have engaged in that have helped prepare them to seek out and participate in Internships and Research Activities.

Additional Information:

Compensation rate: $15/hr

Maximum compensation: $125

Period of employment:
October 2026 - May 2027.

Shift Information: days Priority Review: for returning Peer mentors.
