Hiring Range: $40.60 - $69.24 (final offer may vary within this range based on a candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations)

Major Responsibilities
  • Responsible for efficient operation of the assigned clinical treatment or simulation unit.
  • Plans, prepares, and delivers a prescribed course of radiation to patient. Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient‑identification prior to treatment. Explains procedure to patient as means of communication during treatment. Answers questions and reassures patient. Reinforces physician's advice to patient regarding reactions to treatment and to care. Prepares room and equipment for patient according to chart specifications for field size, distance, time, and the like.
  • Administers radiation therapy treatments observing radiation safety measures for patients and personnel. Transfers patient safety to treatment table, giving special care to catheters, I.V.s, and the like.
  • Monitors patient and equipment during treatment. Maintains patient markings. Maintains simulation room. Assists Radiation Oncologist and Physicist in simulation of patients prior to radiation treatments. Observes patient for unusual reactions and reports to supervisor or others. Assists in follow‑up and clinical examinations of patient.
  • Maintains departmental records. Updates patient charts as required. Maintains records of daily treatment. Maintains separate files on all therapy patients. Schedules patient appointments.
Position Qualifications License/Certification/Education
  • Require:
    Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy.
  • Must have a valid Massachusetts license in Radiation Therapy.
Preferred
  • Graduate of CAHEA‑approved Radiation Therapy Technology Program.
Experience/Skills
  • Require:
    Minimum of five years of continuous clinical experience in a comparable clinical setting.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in:
    • Specialty areas such as Simulation, Total Body Irradiation, and Total Skin Irradiation.
    • 3‑Dimensional, SBRT, SRT, SRS, IMRT, KV and CBCT imaging and treatments and Quality Assurance programs.
    • Computer Management System for Radiation Oncology, i.e., ARIA, Impac, etc.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in patient care environment.

BLS required.
