Your work as a Pharmacy Technician (Technician) will support the pharmacy team in consistently delivering on our brand promise. Technicians act as the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and providing caring service that exceeds expectations.
Once hired, you must complete rigorous training and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to your state’s Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Until those requirements are met, duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager.
Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Perform pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide empathy and genuine care to create heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; solve or elevate patient problems.
- Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law, and as directed by pharmacy leadership, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and performing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting‑bin inventories.
- Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek feedback, and actively pursue opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to other stores in the market as required.
- Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles. Adhere to CVS policies to ensure patient safety, controlled‑substance dispensing, recordkeeping, and privacy protection.
- Deliver additional patient health‑care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and volunteering for off‑site clinics) when allowable by law and supported by training and certification.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status through additional licensure, training, and state Board of Pharmacy compliance.
- Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist on duty.
