Hiring Range: $19.45 - $29.18

I. Major Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care. Assesses health status, implements care plans, documents interventions and evaluates patient progress following standard procedures.
  • Coordinates patient flow and prepares patient for examination. Takes and records vital signs and EKGs. Documents intake questions. Assists physician and others in clinical procedures as required or directed. Performs other basic clinical procedures such as venipuncture.
  • Performs basic office laboratory procedures such as urinalysis, urine culture, pregnancy tests, throat cultures and related procedures. Draws blood as required or directed.
  • Returns patient calls and documents in patient record as required or directed by the RN or physician.
  • Obtains laboratory results. Ensures results are brought to the attention of the physicians and others as appropriate.
  • Maintains records, reports, logs and other statistical information as required or directed.
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties such as typing, filing, scheduling appointments, making phone call and related duties as required or directed.
  • Maintains assigned departmental and/or clinical supplies. Ensures accurate inventory of supplies based on approved levels. Rotates stock as required. Initiates requisitions for re-supply or special items.
II. Position Qualifications

License/Certification/

Education:

  • Required:

    Certification as a Medical Assistant within six (6) months of hire and must be maintained.
  • Preferred:
    High School diploma or equivalent plus completion of accredited program in Medical Assisting at an accredited school.

Experience/

Skills:

  • Required:

    Knowledge of office and laboratory procedures.
  • Preferred:
    Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
