Position OverviewThe Family Recovery Support Specialist (FRSS) is responsible for providing support to pregnant, postpartum women, and parenting men and women experiencing Opiate Use Disorder. The FRSS will enhance services and access to treatment and recovery by drawing on their personal knowledge and experience. The FRSS will use evidence-based interventions to address attachment, parenting, and child development. He/she will provide assessments, outreach, advocacy, referral, and coordination of services for parents, their dependent children, and family members.
Using a Plan of Safe Care, the FRSS will collaborate with treating providers, family members, community partners and state agencies to help organize and facilitate access to services.
- Provide parenting and peer recovery education and support to families with children, prenatal through kindergarten, according to Parents as Teachers home visiting model requirements
- Assist parents to build skills that help promote their own recovery and self-sufficiency and provide education about how to take an active role in their own treatment
- Understand and fully support the Recovery Coach Model
- Help families navigate the healthcare system and social service system; accompany parents/families to appointments and meetings as needed
- Work collaboratively with other providers to support evidence-based services to families in recovery
- Maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records, and maintain and submit all required family and program documentation
- Assist with planning and delivery of parent groups and events
- Flexible hours that may require evening work to accommodate the schedules of the families we serve
- Ability to work remotely from home with reliable access to internet

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be in sustained recovery for at least 3 years and have considerable knowledge of the addiction treatment services system and support services
- Experience with providing support for individuals and/or families affected by opioid use
- Must be a parent
- Ability to share one’s own personal experiences and recovery story with the purpose and intent to build trust and collaboration with persons
- Recovery Coach Academy Certificate or ability to obtain Certified Recovery Coach Academy status within 4 months of hire date
- Excellent organization skills, computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to quickly learn and effectively use new software programs, and ability to learn new software programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, outstanding interpersonal skills, and ability to motivate and effectively work with clients to achieve goals
- Experience with planning and facilitation of groups
- A valid Driver’s license and use of a vehicle is required
- Bilingual skills are preferred
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, walk, bend, squat, sit on floor and climb stairs
- Excellent auditory, verbal and sensory skills and abilities
- Ability to travel to and from clients’ homes, community events, and to required training sessions as identified by MOC
A salary within the range
43 to $27.64 per hour will be provided to the successful candidate having met the minimum requirements for the position consistent with MOC compensation philosophy.
