Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

Base pay range: $17.00/hr - $20.50/hr

Walgreens has transformed its pharmacy technician roles from a transaction‑based environment to a patient‑centric one. As a Pharmacy Technician or Apprentice, you will interact with customers, build patient relationships, and receive training to become a certified Pharmacy Technician.

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and in the performance of Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coach other technicians and cashiers.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, greeting customers, resolving issues, and delivering best‑practice service.
• Enter patient and drug information accurately, fill prescriptions, verify medication correctness, manage workflow, and report errors to the pharmacist.
• Handle cash register transactions, register sales, and assist customers to the OTC aisle.
• Take telephone calls, process manual claims, and perform clerical duties as assigned.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking shipments, and filing claims for overages or shortages.
• Support pharmacy clinical services such as collecting and labeling samples, coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Maintain the Pharmacy Department’s appearance, cleanliness, and supply levels.
• Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and comply with all company policies.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the training program; attend additional training and obtain continuing education credits.

• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Preferred: six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Preferred: prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Preferred: strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Preferred: computer skills.
• Preferred: store inventory control knowledge.
• Preferred: PTCB certification (or pursue for promotion).
