Location: Flagstaff, AZ 86001, USA

In compliance with Federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Working under administrative supervision and with moderate difficulty this position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and assisting with the financial activities of the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and maintains fiscal policies and procedures, including staff training and technical assistance, to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Makes recommendations, provides analyses, and prepares the departmental budget for submission to the State
  • Codes and approves invoices to ensure completeness, accuracy, and prompt payment to vendors
  • Submits invoices to the Arizona Department of Economic Security for the reimbursement of expenses
  • Reviews, processes, tracks and maintains staff reimbursements and credit card expenses to ensure accuracy and payment
  • Tracks expenditures and contract balances on a daily basis to ensure complete and accurate recordkeeping
  • Reconciles department accounts and expenditure reports on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy
  • Assists with the year‑end closeout of the budget with the State to ensure fiscal compliance
  • Maintains all department fiscal records and contracts to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Assists with internal/external audits to ensure compliance with federal regulations

Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR

EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business, accounting, finance or other related field of study; and four years’ accounting experience;
OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Motor Vehicle Record (annually)
