Job Title: Master Printer

Department:Administration-Printing Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt – 40 hours

Moon Crater Press invites applications for the position of Master Printer to begin February 2026. The candidate will print collaboratively for established and emerging artists and print artist editions of intaglio including aquatint and photogravure. They will be expected to have working knowledge of lithographic processes.

The Master Printer will take responsibility for the development of the print studio. The ground floor is 30’ x 40’ sq. ft. and the upstairs studio is 30’ x 20’ sq. ft. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Available housing is adjacent to the print studio. No pets are allowed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

I. Studio Operations and Technical Management
  • Studio Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for the studio. Collaborate with visiting Oversee infrastructure, including equipment maintenance (presses, exposure units, ventilation systems), inventory management, and ordering of supplies and materials.
  • Safety and Compliance: Establish and enforce strict health and safety protocols for all studio users, including chemical handling, hazardous waste disposal, and general shop practices.
  • House Management: Coordinate building maintenance, facility upkeep, and general infrastructure troubleshooting in collaboration with the Studio
II. Artist Residency
  • Residency Direction: Serve as the main liaison for visiting artist
  • Artist Coordination: Oversee the logistical needs of visiting artists, including scheduling, studio access, material sourcing, and public-facing events (e.g., lectures, demonstrations).
  • Community Engagement: Function as an ambassador for the studio, cultivating and maintaining relationships with university departments, other arts organizations, the local community.
