Head Start Teacher Aide, Flagstaff – Northern Arizona Council of Governments

This position operates under direct supervision and routine difficulty to assist the Teacher with planning and implementing classroom activities, maintaining a safe environment, and supporting children and families in accordance with all standards and regulations.
Job DetailsSalary: $18.16–18.99/hr
Hours: 40 hrs/wk, 44 wks/yr
- Monitor and document classroom activities.
- Perform transitions from one activity to the next.
- Assist with preparation of lesson plans and applicable data entry.
- Assist with providing meals, clean‑up, and tooth brushing.
- Actively participate in the recruitment of eligible children and families.
- Assist with parent teaching and home visits.
- Perform data entry and filing tasks.
- Attend and participate in various meetings.
- Perform safety checks in the classroom to ensure child safety.
- Greet incoming families and perform health checks.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Level I: Entry level; must meet job requirements and have one year of experience working with preschool children.
Level II: Basic requirements with a Childhood Development Associate Credential (CDA) appropriate for the age group served, or a state‑awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the CDA requirement, plus one year of preschool experience.

Physical Activity: Frequent listening, talking, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, lifting, finger use, grasping, feeling, repetitive motion; occasional sitting and pulling.
Physical Exertion: Moderate to strong lift requirements: up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 30 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly.
Visual Requirements: Close visual acuity for compiling and analyzing data, viewing a computer screen, and reading.
Working Conditions: Regular exposure to potential physical harm, hazardous chemicals, infectious disease; occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
Travel RequiredTravel: < 5% of the time.
