Salary: $62,674.88 – $72,674.88 (anticipated $67,674.88).
Grade: 22.
Hiring Incentive: $4,000.
Under the supervision of the Resident Engineer (RE), this position performs a variety of engineering‑related duties, including monitoring and evaluating contract compliance with ADOT standards, federal and state regulations, scheduling and reviewing work of inspection personnel, and serving as primary contact for contractors, consultants, and ADOT employees.
Job Duties- Direct, coordinate, and monitor work activities as assigned, directing work of other team members.
- Use a state vehicle in the course of job duties.
- Review plans, standards, policies, and ensure compliance with ADOT specifications and other applicable laws.
- Confirm and verify all quantities and measurements for assigned work.
- Prepare and approve documentation related to work activities for monthly estimates.
- Consult with contractors and other agency personnel to resolve construction‑related issues and, as needed, assist with winter weather emergencies or other emergencies.
- Extensive knowledge of methods, procedures, and techniques used in highway construction project inspections, surveys, materials testing, and documentation.
- Work management: analyzing and evaluating technical engineering data, statutes, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Advanced mathematics and familiarity with civil engineering principles applied to highway maintenance and construction.
- Decision making, organizing, and prioritizing work assignments.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Time management and interpersonal relations with contractors, representatives of other agencies, and other agency employees.
- Computer proficiency and software utilization in all aspects related to construction plans and specifications.
- Analysis and evaluation of roadway and supporting features as they relate to highway construction.
Experience in inspecting highway construction projects, hot mix and concrete plants, performing administrative or advanced engineering and construction records maintenance or related duties; or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a closely related profession may be substituted for the required experience.
Pre‑Employment Requirements- ACI – American Concrete Institute Certification.
- ATTI – Arizona Technical Testing Institute Certifications.
- Valid Driver’s License with required training and record checks.
