The VISTA will help build capacity to reach community members living in poverty for engagement, volunteer recruitment, and participation in services. The VISTA will develop and coordinate best practices to reach a broader group of residents, to achieve the goal of stronger connections and a stronger community. This work will assist Flagstaff’s COVID rebound by connecting residents with each other and with government services.

Member Duties:

• Create an outreach planning toolkit designed to reach community members in lower economic standings with the goal of expanding community engagement and reaching new audiences.
• Create partner engagement scripts and messaging guides for key community partners in their efforts to recruit volunteers and elevate community impact.
• Design tools for community partners to evaluate their program efficacy, with the goal of boosting partner capacity to carry out public health, transportation, energy, and food systems projects.
• Research outreach strategies for programs to recruit new volunteers and event attendees.
• Research effective volunteer organization tactics, focusing on organizations that build community strength, create connections among residents, and build participant skills to recover from and respond to emergencies.
• Develop dynamic social media templates, internal content calendars, content style standards, and volunteer training modules for community partners to implement.
