Role Summary

The RN plays an integral role in the success of our team, community, and creating a place our residents are proud to call home. The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance in all Nursing Department functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established Nursing Department policies and procedures.

Shift & Compensation

Shift: Part‑time, overnight (6:00 PM–12:30 AM).
Wage: LPN $31‑36 / hr; RN $35‑45 / hr (based on experience).

Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily nursing functions in compliance with rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Ensure nursing personnel comply with written policies, procedures, and safety program.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents with appropriate documentation.
  • Participate in orientation of new residents/family members.
  • Make rounds with health care provider.
  • Utilize nursing personnel based on resident care plans and orders.
  • Complete daily clinical and environmental rounds, reporting significant events.
  • Resolve issues with residents/family members and report to supervisor as needed.
  • Participate in facility surveys and inspections.
  • Assist with clinical programs (e.g., dementia, wound care, quality assurance, infection control, admissions).
  • Complete initial assessment and develop interim care plans.
  • Update, review, and transcribe care plans reflecting nursing needs and new orders.
  • Communicate with health care provider regarding treatment plans and orders.
  • Review residents’ medical records for treatments, medication orders, diets, labs, etc.
  • Requisition and arrange diagnostic/therapeutic services per provider orders.
  • Communicate department policies to personnel, residents, and visitors.
  • Report changes in resident condition via written and oral reports.
  • Complete accident/injury incident reports and submit to Director of Nursing.
  • Provide resident and family information for conferences and meetings.
  • Report discrepancies in orders, diet changes, charting errors to supervisor.
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation per policy.
  • Inform nursing personnel of new admissions and care needs.
  • Coordinate with support personnel (Housekeeping, Dining Services, Nursing Assistants) to plan and monitor shift services.
  • Assist in arranging transportation for residents and third‑party services.
  • Prepare and administer medications ordered by provider.
  • Maintain adequate floor stock of medications, supplies, and equipment.
  • Review medication administration record for completeness and accuracy.
  • Dispose of drugs and narcotics per established procedures.
  • Assist with staffing needs to meet nursing demands.
  • Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours; supervise staff performance.
  • Conduct staff development, coaching, counseling, and discipline as needed.
  • Resolve staff performance issues; collaborate with Director of Nursing on terminations.
  • Investigate complaints and grievances; implement resolution plans.
  • Plan, conduct, and schedule in‑service and orientation training.
  • Supply protective equipment and maintain nursing service areas in a clean, sanitary manner.
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs to Director of Nursing; ensure adequate stock levels.
Qualifications
  • Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
  • Professional demeanor toward personnel, residents, family, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
  • Capacity to work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset patients.
  • Proficient in speaking, writing, and understanding English for effective communication.
Education & Experience
  • Current and active RN license in this state.
  • Experience in home care, assisted living, or long‑term care facility.
