Job SummaryThe Operations Technician is responsible for both the outdoor & indoor setup and installation of the fiber optic infrastructure. This role involves working outside to prepare and connect fiber optic cables, ensuring reliable service delivery to customers. Additionally, this position will perform all indoor installation operations including but not limited to running fiber, Cat 5 Ethernet cabling, mounting of wall jacks, and installation & activation of our Optical Network Terminal (ONT).
A successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring positive customer experience by providing high-quality installation services and technical support. Technicians will interact directly with customers to explain services, troubleshoot issues, and ensure satisfaction.
- Conduct outdoor installation of fiber optic wire, including trenching and aerial work.
- Connect fiber optic cables to distribution points and network nodes.
- Perform indoor installations of fiber optic services, including setting up routers, Optical Network Terminals, and television equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during or after installation.
- Educate customers on how to use their equipment and services effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Safeguard company-provided tools and materials.
- Perform site assessments to identify optimal locations for installations.
- Work collaboratively with team members to complete installation projects on time.
- Compliance with safety standards & company policies during installation activities.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including documentation of installations and any issues encountered.
- Basic understanding of fiber optics and telecommunications.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Technical aptitude for installing and configuring telecommunications equipment.
- Problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Work boots that meet ASTM F2413 ANSI Standards prior to employment.
- 1‑2 years in telecommunications or related field, particularly in outdoor installation.
- 1‑2 years in customer service or technical support, with a focus on telecommunications or related fields.
- OSHA 10 (Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10‑Hour).
- First Aid CPR.
