Family Support Specialist I/II – Health and Human Services (1025)
Join the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (Patrol) as a Family Support Specialist I/II. This role focuses on providing home‑based prevention services to strengthen parent‑child relationships and enhance family functioning through child development education, play, goal setting, assessments, and coordination of services for overburdened families.
Nature of WorkUnder direct supervision, the Specialist is responsible for providing home‑based services, conducting assessments, and promoting self‑sufficiency for families.

Pay RangeFamily Support Specialist I: $42,110.00 – $44,215.50
Family Support Specialist II
: $45,560.25 – $47,838.26
- Conduct home visits virtually or in person and assess family needs while providing case management services, promoting self‑sufficiency.
- Utilize child development curricula to promote positive parent‑child relationships.
- Use floor time to support play within the parent‑child relationship.
- Apply appropriate limit setting and boundaries.
- Maintain necessary assessments and documentation in compliance with County and funding source requirements.
- Participate in weekly supervision with the Program Supervisor.
- Coordinate with other community services.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled Healthy Families conferences, seminars, in‑service training, and parent events.
- Maintain all Healthy Families quality assurance standards, e.g., home visitation rate.
- Participate in agency Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Perform all duties of a Family Support Specialist I.
- Participate in a County, community, or Healthy Families Arizona committee.
- Support the Supervisor by onboarding new Specialists and mentoring with community resources, curriculum, home visiting, and paperwork.
- Provide administrative support to the Program Supervisor, including case staffing management and chart reviews.
- Observe the Program Supervisor during weekly supervision with staff at least twice a year.
- Observe end‑of‑month completion at least twice a year.
- Remain up to date on best practices and emerging trends in home visiting programs and services.
- Develop additional trainings as required for the population(s) served.
- Assign and review the work of others as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the County or the Program Supervisor.
Driving, sitting for computer entry, typing, answering telephones, and working with others including staff, administration, inmates, and citizens; handling interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist) for computer and phone work; vision and hearing for ordinary conversation; finger dexterity for using radios, intercoms, telephones, and computers.
Minimum Qualifications Family Support Specialist IHigh school diploma and two years of relevant work experience.
Family Support Specialist IIBachelor’s degree in social work or related fields ( nursing, early childhood education) and one year of experience, OR three years’ experience as a Family Support Specialist I.
Additional Requirements- Proof of education – high school diploma or equivalent, or college degree/transcripts.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license, vehicle, and proof of current motor vehicle insurance. Final offer contingent on a satisfactory 5‑year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.
- Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid.
- Clear pre‑employment drug test.
Bachelor’s degree in social work, nursing, early childhood education, or social services; current or recent experience in the home visiting field; bilingual in Spanish.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of child growth and development, parent‑child relationships, challenges facing families in Coconino County, community resources, principles of case management, software applications, video conferencing platforms, business English, office practices, and communication.
