Pay and Position Details
  • Base pay range: $20.00/hr - $20.00/hr
  • Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $20.75/hr (depending on K‑12 bus driver experience); $18.00/hr for Bus Driver Trainee (CDL training provided)

Responsibilities
  • Transport students safely to and from school and/or school‑related locations, operating the bus under various weather and road conditions.
  • Load and unload children using wheelchairs and assistive devices; assist passengers and boarding / exiting (Special Education bus driver only).
  • Perform district‑required inspections, report any issues to the Director/Supervisor.
  • Check all lights, gauges and switches; maintain clean mirrors and windows for unobstructed vision.
  • Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
  • Comply with all traffic regulations and operate the bus safely and courteously.
  • Complete required accident reports promptly if involved in an incident.
  • Conduct safety and maintenance procedures per established guidelines.
  • Communicate with students positively, explaining bus procedures and safety rules.
  • Communicate with parents and faculty regarding transportation issues.
  • Communicate with dispatch consistently and timely.
  • Create and maintain a positive bus environment; follow disciplinary procedures and record student discipline on standardized forms.
  • Clean buses, sweep floor, remove trash and wash exterior.
  • Complete required reporting duties, including pre/post reports, student count, mileage, fuel and mandated documentation.
  • Actively participate in required training sessions such as orientation and safety meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Valid Arizona CDL Class B license with school bus certification required (paid training provided).
  • Instructional permit required.
  • Knowledge of First Aid procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand traffic signs and information.
  • Physical capability to operate all required aspects of the assigned vehicle.
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Requirements
  • Clean driving record.
  • Pass state‑required physical exam prior to appointment.
  • Random drug and alcohol testing as part of commercial driver’s license regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a current and valid commercial driver’s license at all times.
  • Complete 6.5 hours of refresher training every 24 months.
  • Pass PPT every 24 months.
  • Subject to illicit drug or alcohol screening upon any accident.
