JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for inspection and basic maintenance of I-17 Flex Lanes between Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona. This position involves performing general labor tasks at roadwork sites while also ensuring the safety of workers and motorists by implementing proper traffic control measures. General labor and safety patrol includes maintaining highway assets including but not limited to paving, pothole patching, removal of debris, crack sealing, guard rail repair, and traffic control.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
- Public Infrastructure experience preferred, but not required
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
License or Certification - Valid Driver’s License for state of employment, required
Specialized Skills
- Detail oriented, highly organized, ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
- Effective oral and written communication in English, required
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
- Ability to complete tasks assigned in a timely manner
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet time sensitive deadlines
- Has knowledge of construction safety practices

- The ability to drive trucks for extended periods of time both daytime and nighttime.
- Constantly required to talk, hear, see, stand and walk

- Frequent use of hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
- Ability to reach, bend, twist, stoop, crouch, climb and balance

- Frequently exposed to weather conditions consistent with Arizona, ranging from summer high temperatures to winter cold.
- The majority of job duties include driving roadway and inspecting various elements of the roadway operation functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Understand and implement job specifications for each site
- Complete daily paperwork timely and accurately
- Encourage and maintain safe working conditions by promoting Company’s “Culture of Safety”, including but not limited to reinforcing bi-weekly safety tailgate meetings and ensuring proper personal protective equipment usage
- Shows up to work each day on time; completes all tasks within time expectations; adheres to the company dress code policy; wears clean clothes to work each day; follows inclement weather policy and sick leave reporting procedures
- Assist with site preparation, clean-up, and maintenance, including loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
- Maintain highway assets including but not limited to paving, pothole patching, removal of debris, crack sealing, guard rail repair, and traffic control
- Operate tools and machinery or support operators of machinery by guiding movement and ensuring safe work zones as needed.
- Direct traffic safely around roadwork or construction zones using stop/slow paddles or hand signals.
- Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control devices (cones, signs, barriers).
- Monitor site access and ensure safety zones are maintained.
SUPPLEMENTAL DUTIES:
- All other duties as assigned.
