Responsibilities
  • Improvement of fleet impact on SWR performance and customer satisfaction through the effective management of the Fleet Planning Management team ensuring that delivery and availability targets are consistently met
  • Carry out daily review of all fleet planning activities ensuring that effective reporting and close out has been conducted and take action where deficiencies are found
  • Review and delivery of depot service level agreements and satisfaction against throughput with regards to capabilities and mileage control
  • Management of the Fleet planning team Rosters in conjunction with laid down criteria and development of staff for training
  • Management of Fleet planning Competence
  • Management of Fleet planning Staff Performance
  • Attendance at Timetablong and Resourcing Meetings with TPU
  • Attendance on all Joint functional mitigation meetings & Teleconferences within the control function to ensure information and actions are cascaded
  • Staff Disciplinary management
  • Review and development of Fleet control processes and adherence to standards
  • Cover FCM in extreme circumstances (Preferably Days only)
  • Escalate all concerns and decisions to the Head of Fleet Performance
  • Periodic reporting of Fleet Control Performance against KPI's
  • Daily Attendance and action owner from the daily 10:00 Fleet Conference
  • Development of process and methods for fleet planning within the control department
  • Close working relationship with the senior fleet control manager

  • Self motivating, able to plan and deliver to tight timescales
  • Excellent communicator

  • Detailed knowledge of the fleet environment
  • Detailed knowledge of the SWR control environment and processes
  • Knowledge of the railway operating environment
  • Knowledge of the South Western Railway Business structure

  • Knowledge of Railway Performance Management
  • Knowledge of the SWR operation and Network
  • Knowledge of TRUST, BUGLE, Defect & Maintenance management systems
Working pattern

You will work an average of 37 hours per week across 5 days. Typically, office hours, Monday to Friday.
