Position Summary

Provides high quality patient care to patients. Provides oversight of medical quality, delivery of medical care and leadership of Hospitalist department. Collaborates and works effectively with other providers and staff to provide effective team based medical care.

Primary Position Responsibilities

Hold regular meaningful meetings with providers, COO to discuss progress of the Hospitalist program and physician advisor to ensure proper documentation, lower LOS and readmission rates.

Promote patient satisfaction.

Enhance communication with consultants, hospital staff and primary care providers.

Provide leadership to practitioners resulting in overall hospitalist service improvement by:

Promoting teamwork
Assisting in recruitment of qualified providers
Assisting in professional development and growth of each provider
Ensure proper coding and timely billing
Orienting new providers and monitoring ongoing compliance with policies and procedures
Promote resident teaching
Scheduling to ensure efficiency and maximum productivity
Addressing complaints from patients, medical staff and Administration

Direct patient care when required.

Conduct ongoing monitoring of compliance with hospital and risk management program, assist in the development and maintenance of continuous quality improvement programs, and oversee clinical peer review.

Develop policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

Medical Degree: MD or DO

Minimum Years of Experience

Residency and or fellowship training completion required by specialty

Preferred Experience

Supervisory and/or Medical Director experience highly desirable

License, Registry or Certification

New Jersey Medical License;
Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. CDS, DEA licensure.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities

Strong Medical Knowledge Base in hospital medicine, Interpersonal skills and management ability to provide patient care.

Previous inpatient hospitalist experience
