Patient Care Technician

Position Summary

Provides quality nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The PCT works within the guidelines of established practice for the Patient Care Technician forms collection of blood specimens and performs EKG's as ordered by a physician. Assists with general office/clerical functions. Supports the mission, philosophy, and objectives of Hunterdon Medical Center.

• Performs collection of blood specimens and EKG's as ordered by the physician
• Promotes and supports an organized work environment
• Performs general office/clerical functions on the nursing unit

• Required:
  
  High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Preferred:
  Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program

• Required:
  
  Previous hospital experience as a nursing assistant or physician office experience
• Preferred:
  Phlebotomy, EKG experience

State Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification OR non-certified nursing assistant with acute care hospital experience required. CPR certification is required. Crisis Prevention (CPI) training is required, and must be renewed annually. If not certified upon hire, must obtain certification within 6 months. CPI Course will be provided at Hunterdon.

Normal knowledge of basic patient care equipment, wheelchairs, and stretchers. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
