Hours of Work:7:00 am – 3:00 pm, M – FWeekends on occasion if business requires
Responsibilities- Supervise the repair and overhaul of all transportation fleet equipment, tractors and trailers; oversee all shop operations
- Evaluate work of the mechanics, schedule training to fill gaps
- Check the status of maintenance and repair work on vehicle and trailers
- Coordinate incoming work with existing work load
- Establish maintenance priorities
- Make sure all work are performed within reasonable time frame
- Troubleshoot maintenance problems and recommend corrective action
- Perform necessary welding jobs
- Maintain a neat and safe work environment
- Submit weekly “Trailer Out of Service” report
- Maintain necessary inventory of critical parts
- Contact Suppliers for parts price
- Fill out Purchase Order Request form and submit for approval
- Ability to plan and supervise work of shop mechanics
- Ability to train and coach mechanics re: job specific skills
- Basic knowledge of computer in order to be able to use diagnostic software
- Ability to diagnose defects and repair problems with diesel and gasoline engines
- Numerical skills to audit time records and productivity metric calculation
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precaution in the work place
- Knowledge of practices working with tools of welding and machines
