About Our Client

Our client is a leading general contractor in Manitoba specializing in heavy construction projects ranging from small to large scale. They have a strong reputation for delivering water and sewer infrastructure, including treatment facilities, as well as crushing and road construction projects across Northern Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Cost Controller to support cost management and reporting. This role will play a key part in the implementation of a new ERP accounting and project management system, while also supporting costing, reporting, and ad-hoc analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Control
    • Monitor costs against budgets, forecasts, and contracts
    • Track commitments, actuals, and cost-to-complete across projects
    • Identify and report cost variances and potential risks
  • ERP Implementation
    • Support implementation of a new ERP system for accounting and project management
    • Assist with data migration, system setup, and data integrity
    • Act as a system super-user, supporting internal teams
  • Reporting & Analysis
    • Prepare ad-hoc cost, productivity, and financial analysis
    • Support ongoing improvements to reporting tools and templates
  • Collaboration & Support
    • Work closely with Project Managers and Finance teams
    • Provide basic training and support on cost systems and reporting tools
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 2–4 years of experience in project accounting or financial analysis
  • Exposure to ERP or project management systems (Maestro is an asset)
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
Preferred Experience
  • Construction or project-based environment
  • Familiarity with cost codes, WBS, commitments, and change orders
  • Experience working with ERP systems
