Autism Education Specialist

Position: Autism Education Specialist Role
Join the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education as an Autism Teacher Specialist, providing essential support for children with autism spectrum disorder. This role is pivotal in shaping educational programs and fostering professional development.

Effective from August 1, 2026, this 0.49 FTE term opportunity requires strong leadership in evaluating and addressing the educational needs of youth with autism. You will represent AVRCE in community collaborations, while overseeing the proper allocation of services and supports. Additionally, developing effective program plans and professional development training in special education will be key responsibilities of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership in autism programming and training

• Analyze school needs and recommend service allocations

• Evaluate the effectiveness of educational support services

• Work with teams to refine individualized program plans

• Engage in partnerships with educational agencies

Requirements:

• Valid Nova Scotia Teaching License required

• At least five years of relevant teaching experience

• Preferably a Master's degree in Special Education

• Knowledge of Inclusive Education policies

• Exceptional interpersonal and decision-making abilities
