Microbiology Technician

Location:

Flint

Shift: 4 on 4 off Days (7:00am - 7:00pm)

Salary: £29,605 per annum

Are you an experienced laboratory professional with a passion for quality and microbiology? We're looking for a Microbiology Technician to join a busy Quality team at a leading manufacturing site in Flint.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring product safety and quality through microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and maintaining the highest laboratory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out microbiological testing and environmental monitoring to ensure products meet quality and safety standards.
  • Work within a fast-paced laboratory environment where accuracy, attention to detail, and compliance are essential.
  • Collect, analyse and report microbiological samples.
  • Prepare culture media and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Carry out environmental monitoring, including air, water and surface sampling.
  • Record and review laboratory data accurately using digital and paper-based systems.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Assist with investigations into out-of-specification results and test failures.
  • Follow GMP, quality and health & safety procedures at all times.
  • Manage laboratory stock levels and consumables.
Qualifications
  • GCSEs including Science (A-Level or equivalent in a science subject would be advantageous).
  • A minimum of 2 years' laboratory experience, ideally within microbiology, food manufacturing or quality control.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment such as autoclaves and incubators is beneficial, although full training will be provided.
  • A reliable and proactive approach with a strong commitment to quality, safety and compliance.
